Two New Summer Marcy Patterns

Vogue 9190
2 Shrugs in Knit and Knit + Woven

Two completely different styles are in the pattern envelope. Both are easy to sew and fit, with a wide variety of fabric possiblities...these are essential layering piece for all seasons, and so practical to pop on over a t-shirt, tunic or dress.

Version C/D shown below: made in a border print jersey with black linen woven used for the yoke. Fronts are a double layer of self fabric. The back has a drawstring at the hem an soft gathers at the yoke.

Another version of view C/D uses 2 jersey knits, a print for the body and a stripe for the yoke and cuff. if using a knit for the yoke and cuff, stabilize with a fusible interfacing...I find it easier to fuse the fabric before cutting out the pattern pieces

Version A/B has a collar with a drawstring and long or 3/4 sleeves.
Shown below in a light weight ponte.

The sewing is so quick and easy. The version below uses one of the new novelty knits, a double layer with a frayed effect on the right side and is smooth on the back side so it slides on easily. I am imagining this shrug cut longer, maybe shorter in front, longer in back...or maybe cut it very long and straight to wear over a tunic and narrow pants.

Vogue 9193
Tunic & Pant

Wear the pieces together or separately. The tunic is loose fitting with a bias faced neck or small stand up neckband, a drop pocket built into the peplum and can be made sleeveless or with a flattering all in one dolman sleeve. The pants have a yoke with built-in drop pocket, elasticized waist with a slight bell curve at the hem. The key to success is a fabric with drape and hang; you could use a knit or woven or combination in both styles. For instance the tunic could use a knit on the upper section and a woven for the peplum. When fitting the pant, make sure the yoke is just large enough to easily pull on over the hips, and adjust the length before cutting to maintain the lower shaping.

Shown below; the top is a digital print French poly charmeuse, and the pants are in our Pale Gray French Parisian microfiber knit.

The sleeveless version has a slightly extended shoulder. Shown here in a drapey red Italian linen.
